MARKEC’S MILL Location: Bistrica ob Sotli Category: Architectural and ethnological heritage

The mill stands by the river Bistrica and is accessible from the road Bistrica ob Sotli-Obrež. The brick-built building, extending into the living quarters for the miller, was erected in 1842. The building is a subject of decay, but here are two stone portals visible nevertheless.

Slowly but surely ‘melting away’ is also the dam, which once enabled and provided a strong enough water current for the operation of the mill, and a deep-water swim in the summer months for the locals.
