Home of Liberation War Veterans and Youth of Yugoslavia (officially Scientific Study Centre) was opened on November 29, 1974. The building was built in a record time of only 2 years. Memorial Centre served as a three-star hotel where tourists stayed coming from all over former Yugoslavia. Centre occupies a total area of about 10.000 m2, of which 7.500 m2 are indoor area. Memorial Centre has a large hall with 270 seats, two smaller halls for about sixty people, a library and reading room, rooms for archives, film libraries, and there is also a restaurant and indoor pool. The hotel is comprised of 17 single rooms, 42 double rooms and 3 suites. The most striking feature of this building is the incorporation into the landscape. During the war of independence in these facilities were housed mostly refugees from Vukovar in the period between 1991 and 2002. The collapse of ideology of the former state it also ended a need for a memorial centre. Values of the facilities remain even though ideology and political imperatives have changed.
